12/11/2016 0 Comments This semesterThis semester was a big wake up call for me. Last year I decided to take a year off from school to focus on myself and figure out what exactly I wanted to do. Most of my friends knew right away what career they wanted and had good plans to achieve their specific careers. As for me, I had no clue what I was going to do. I was very envious of them and spent a lot of time worrying if I’d ever figure it out too. Since I still wasn’t sure, I decided that instead of wasting my money and time on classes that I had no interest in taking I would take the year to try and figure it out. My dad was a big help in helping me figure it all out. I started working with my dad at his company. I took a huge interest in the job and actually loved what I was doing there. Coming into the fall semester of this year I finally felt like i was ready to start school again. I decided my major was going to be business and I was very excited to start. I quickly felt very overwhelmed when classes started. Since I took a whole year off I felt as though I lost a lot of knowledge and forgot how hard school was going to be. Most of semester was very stressful and hard for me. The only thing that got me through it was reminding myself that it would all be worth it in the end when I have my degree. Although I got through my first semester back, i realize I need to make some major changes in how I continue. One of the things i need to work on is my time management. I put myself through much anxiety and stress waiting till the last possible day to complete my assignments. Not only was I stressed but also I didn’t give myself enough time to really do my best. I also need to work on studying more. I wasn’t as prepared for most of my tests as much as id like to be. Next semester my goal is to work on changing that.

12/11/2016 0 Comments FailureFailure is an act or instance of failing or proving unsuccessful. It’s an unsettling feeling when having to admit defeat. Although failure is usually portrayed to be negative, I believe you can always find a positive side of failing. Failure doesn’t have to mean the end. It’s only the end if you give up entirely. If you want something badly enough you will never give up. Failure is apart of the journey. Sometimes you have to fail and make mistakes to figure out how to reach your goal. You should learn from those mistakes and keep moving forward. Anything that’s worth the hard work isn’t going to be easy, that’s why it’s called a goal. There’s going to be moments when you’re going to doubt yourself and want to quit. When you feel like your goal is too far out of reach and it feels impossible that’s when you need to remind yourself all the hard work you’ve already put in and how far you’ve came since the beginning of your journey towards your goal. Find your own inspiration and motivation to help you continue. I believe that you can only really fail if you stop trying.
“No human ever became interesting by not failing. The more you fail and recover and improve, the better you are as a person. Ever meet someone who’s always had everything work out for them with zero struggle? They usually have the depth of a puddle. Or they don’t exist.” – Chris Hardwick “Success in not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that count.” – Winston Churchill 12/8/2016 0 Comments Sea Isle CityMost people who live in the Delco area spend a lot of their summers going to the jersey shore. Whether it be Ocean City, Wildwood, Avalon, or Sea Isle City. Every summer when I was younger, my family and I rented a house for a week or two in Sea Isle City. I always looked forward to going because I always knew it would be so much fun. We always got a house right in the center of the town. This was perfect because everything was in walking distance for me. With just a couple steps I could go get food and ice-cream. Also when I was younger, my friends and I used to love going to the promenade at night. It was always poppin with kids our age. Just a couple of years ago my family decided to get our own house in Sea isle. Now we can go all year long! I just turned 21 so I’m looking forward to finally being allowed to go to the bars with all my friends. Of course the bars are also in walking distance, lucky for me!
12/6/2016 0 Comments What is Composition? Before entering this class my understanding of the word Composition had a totally different meaning than it does now. I’ve heard this term composition many times before in high school but never knew the true definition. I always just assumed I knew the meaning. From my understanding, composition meant the finished product. For example, essays, assignments, books, and even art work that were completed. Now that I’m almost finished English 100 at Delaware County Community College I have a better understanding of what the actual term composition means. Composition means the opposite of what I thought it was. Composition actually means the thought process and ideas that are put into creating the finished product. This includes all the scrap papers you’ve used to help organize your thoughts and all of your first bad drafts. I feel as though composition is a very important aspect in creating a well thought out finished product. Without composition, it will be very difficult to have a great finished product because it wouldn’t have any substance to back it up. Throughout this whole semester, our class focused more on having composition than the actual final product. We were asked to make multiple drafts for just one essay. This was a lot different than in high school because rough drafts were optional. I believe I am more of a better writer now than in high school because of the extra work that I now put into my assignments
